What we keep, why, and for how long.
Reading the site stores nothing about you on our side. Your mood (Road or Bench) and market choice are kept in your own browser's storage and never sent to us. The site has no analytics scripts and no third-party requests except images of eBay listings, which load from eBay.
Story counters. When a story page opens, a counter for that story goes up by one; when a parts link is clicked, another counter goes up. The counters hold numbers only: no address, no identifier, no time of day.
Signing in (contributors and sellers) uses your email address and a one-time link. We keep the address, the time you last signed in, and what you put on the site. Sessions are a signed cookie on your device.
Contributors. Your submissions (photos, voice note, text) are kept while a piece is in the editorial queue and after publication as the record of what you approved. Photos are stripped of every embedded tag (location, camera, time) when they arrive. The voice note is transcribed on our own machine, never sent to a third-party service, and is kept only until the piece is published or withdrawn. You can export or delete your account from your profile page; published pieces stay unless you ask the editor to take them down.
Applying to contribute. An application holds what you typed: your name, email, what you ride or work on, a first piece and any links. If you are accepted it becomes your contributor account. If not, it is deleted 90 days after the decision.
Email. We send sign-in links, editorial messages (the approve link for your piece), listing notices and seller relays. Nothing else. No newsletter unless you ask for one.
Backups are taken nightly, encrypted, and kept for 14 days.
Your rights. Export or delete from your profile page, or write to [email protected]. Little Jam Jar Ltd is the data controller; its ICO registration is on the Legal page.
